Maria Dancer has been dancing and teaching Belly Dance since 2004. She is trained in both Cabaret and American Tribal Style (ATS)® of Belly Dance. Maria Dancer has studied with many local & international well-known belly dancers, including Carolena Nericcio, Jennifer Nolan & Mahira. Maria is certified in Cabaret, and is also a certified teacher in ATS® by Carolena Nericcio of FatChanceBellyDance®. Maria completed her teacher certification with FatChanceBellyDance® (FCBD®) ATS® in March 2012. Also in 2012, Maria became a FCBD® Sister Studio.
Since 2004, Maria Dancer has performed in many venues throughout the Chicago-land area and in Wisconsin. She has also organized and managed many haflas (parties), and choreographed all of her student’s performances. Maria has been hired for local festivals, fundraisers, private parties & for black tie functions as the entertainment. She has also been invited to perform at many haflas & local events. In 2011, Maria founded and created Shimmy by Fire an ATS® & Cabaret Belly Dance Troupe. Currently there are 10 dancers in the troupe. Maria teaches and coordinates the dances and performances for Shimmy by Fire.
